I can't make all 5 sessions, is that ok?

Of course! Whilst it's better to attend the sessions "live" if you let us know you cannot make it we can send a recording of the session and/or some notes for you to catch up when you can.

Question 2

I've had a baby before, is it still worth attending a course?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! In fact, subsequent-time parents can benefit just as much, sometimes more. You have some experience of birth already and can use that to help with your learning. Your experience will be valuable on a group course or if you prefer, you could choose to do a 1:1 course where we can tailor the offering to your specific needs. We also offer "refresher" courses 1:1 on enquiry.

Question 3

If I do this, will my birth go to plan?

We cannot guarantee this. No one can and if someone claims to promise this, consider that a red flag. Things can go wrong or differently to expectations but what we can say is we can provide you with knowledge as well as tools to calm your nervous system and tools to assist with decisions. This can make those unexpected turns seem less daunting and allow you to make the choices that feel right for you.

Question 4

I know I am having a planned induction/C Section, will this course work for me?

Definitely! It's still important to understand your body and the science behind birth so you feel comfortable in the decisions you are making. Our course covers all types of births and calming techniques and decision making tools are useful in all types of births as well as in pregnancy and beyond. We discuss how to apply what we are learning to different types of births and if you're ever not sure, our courses are safe spaces to ask.

Question 5

Should my birth partner attend this course?

Accepted Answer

Yes! You both have jobs to do during the birth. The birth partner is the advocate for the birther. Often the birth partner can feel like a spare part but this is not the case. We ensure partners are included on the course and that they take away knowledge and tools to help the birther and to play an active part in the birth.

What is hypnobirthing? It sounds a bit "airy fairy" for me...

Hypnobirthing is rooted in science! It's all about how our brain and body work and how we can use techniques to "hack" our nervous system to calm us down. Yes we learn about hypnosis and labour breathing but with purpose. We also cover hormones, pain relief options, birth planning as well as practical tips for labour and life with a new baby, such as what to include in your birth bag and what to expect during those first few days with a newborn.
